"Jump-Arounds!"

Jump-Arounds

THE BEST IN AMERICA

A jump-around is a spectacular category of university music.

It’s something that happens at sporting events and pep rallies; when a song plays (usually over the stadium speakers) and everybody starts ‘jumping around.’

It’s the dumbest, and the funnest – of all  categories.

Baseball has it’s 7th inning “Take Me Out for the Ballgame.”  It’s all about everyone hugging each other, and singing that song and feeling about being right there in that moment.  It’s all about communion.  About belonging.  About tribe.

Football and basketball’s ‘seventh inning stretch’ is between the 3rd and 4th quarters.  Except these fans have no interest in singing a sweet lullaby song.

It’s time to knock things up a big notch.  Get everybody pumped up for the big, victorious game ending.

Welcome the “jump-around.’

Elements include a dopey song with maybe a few guttural words, at best.  It’s a high-energy dance tune that makes you want to get out of your seat and shake with your closest 75,000 pals in the stadium.

Sometimes you do something goofy all at the same time just to make it more fun.

The ‘jump-around.’

Great for school-spirit.  Great for the team.

And you work off a couple bites of that second hotdog, too.

AUBURN

“ALL I DO IS WIN”

Auburn’s “All I Do is Win” is a mixed-breed.  Half school song, half ‘jump-around.’

What’s fabulous about it is that all the Auburn fans sing at the top of the lungs and jump around.  I guess when you put it that way — it’s perfect.

4.

LSU

“NECK”

The LSU fans go nuts when their marching band breaks into “Neck.”

It’s an example that these songs are rocket-science.  They’re just fun.

It’s a little bit of a “War Chant,” but we consider it a “Jump Around” because it’s just too much fun.

What creates communion is that everyone is doing the same ‘dance.’

“Belonging” at its best.

UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA

“JUMP AROUND”

Here’s North Carolina’s doing their ‘jump around’ right before the tip-off of a game.

Spectacular.  So fun.

To the song, ‘Jump Around.’

Another example of how this song is their song.  When UNC fans here this song, they go nuts. Even though this is really Wisconsin’s song, you can’t convince a North Carolina fan of that.  It’s their tribal song.

The song couldn’t be any simpler.  It’s all about creating the right musical moment that makes the fans the star of the song — not the song.

In this case, watch this guy become one of the stars of the song…

2.

UNIVERSITY OF SOUTH CAROLINA

“SANDSTORM”

Before the opening kick-off, it’s jump-around time for the Gamecock fans.

Folks say the building absolutely shakes.  All raising their while flags and whooping it up.

You have to read the comments on Youtube videos from fans; saying “This is the reason I’d go to South Carolina.”

A jumbo-screen is the foreplay for the ‘jump-around.’  A EDM track is at “11” — and everyone goes nuts.

That’s what I call a great tradition.

1.

WISCONSIN UNIVERSITY

“JUMP AROUND”

There’s really not a lot to say.

A fabulous, pounding, rap song ignites the stadium — and everybody starts jumping around.

Including all the players.

Pump-up 101.

You just can’t beat it.

What Niagara Falls is to waterfalls, the “Jump-Around” at Wisconsin is to school spirit.
